Equipment Service at Sea Colony

At Sea Colony, we stock parts for many manufacturers in our state-of-the-art service department.  Our senior technician, Ted Morgan, has been certified for over 20 years by several major manufacturers.  He can repair and troubleshoot older equipment as well as state-of-the-art regulators, air systems, valves, tanks, and BCD’s.

Sea Colony is also well equipped to handle your repairs.   Some of our equipment includes:

Regulator and Valve Workstation:  This flow bench provides controlled air pressure to test the function of regulators at sea level conditions or at any desired pressure. We can evaluate the first stage intermediate pressure, lockup repeatability and stability, and systemic air tightness. We can simulate actual dives and provide you with information on regulator performance at depth.

Ultrasonic Cleaner:  The most effective way to clean small parts, this machine generates high frequency vibrations beyond the range of human hearing. Together with Sea Colony’s special cleaning solvent, the ultrasonic cleaner bombards virtually every surface of any material submerged. This cavitation literally blasts the contaminants off the parts, producing a state of microscopic cleanliness.

Instrument Test Chamber:  This apparatus is the current industry standard for testing the functions of: water tightness, accuracy of depth gauges, watches, dive computers, and certain underwater photographic gear.

Tank Tumbler:  This allows dive cylinders to be simultaneously tumbled at about 60 rpm. Aluminum oxide chips are added to the cylinder. These are small, hard, randomly shaped abrasive particles which will loosen scale and rust from tank walls. Aluminum oxide has been successfully used for tank tumbling for over 40 years. Each cylinder may take several hours to tumble depending on the severity of the tank’s condition.

Visual Plus:  Your scuba cylinder will receive the most thorough visual inspection possible, because we inspect with the Visual Plus™ system, which uses eddy currents to thoroughly inspect the threaded neck region of aluminum cylinders.  As electrical current flows through the metal, Visual Plus™  measures tiny fluctuations in the electrical current and can detect tiny imperfections. We are able to detect cylinder flaws that other inspectors, who rely on only the naked eye, might miss or wrongly diagnose.  In this way, we provide our valued customers with superior cylinder inspections.

Air Station:  Sea Colony has three MAKO air compressors that can pump purified air to 5000 psi.  This insures that we will always have air available with no down time. Our 28 bottle air bank (soon to be expanded) is rated to 4500 psi.  We try to keep our bank full at all times so the fills are cool, with only a short wait. We can fill as many as 7 tanks at one time.  Our three-stage filter system ensures that you get the purest and sweetest air possible.
